Particle Size Analysis by Laser Diffraction

At Hosokawa Custom Processing Services (HCPS), we use advanced laser diffraction technology to provide precise particle size analysis. Utilizing Beckman Coulter LS13-320 and LS 230 analyzers, we offer detailed measurements for materials ranging from 0.017 µm to 2000 µm, ensuring accuracy across fine particle size distributions.

Advanced Light Scattering Technology

Our analyzers employ light scattering—a widely recognized method for measuring particle size distribution. By directing a light beam onto particles and analyzing the scattered light patterns, this technique provides quick, precise, and repeatable results. Both LS13-320 and LS 230 systems capture these scattering patterns to deliver reliable particle size data, meeting high standards of accuracy and reproducibility.

Beckman Coulter LS13-320 & LS 230 Capabilities

The LS13-320 analyzer is equipped with three plug-and-play modules, providing versatility for different sample types:

  • Tornado Module: Designed for dry powder samples.
  • Universal Liquid Module: Suitable for DI water, IPA, and other organic solvents.
  • Micro Liquid Module: Designed for small volumes in IPA or similar solvents.

These analyzers, including the LS230, utilize Polarization Intensity Differential Scattering (PIDS) technology, achieving the highest submicron resolution for particle measurement. The systems also offer flexible reporting options, allowing data to be customized to specific customer requirements.

Custom Analysis for Optimal Results

HCPS collaborates closely with clients to replicate in-house analytical procedures or assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for newly developed materials. Whether you need precision for established materials or adaptability for innovative applications, our laser diffraction analysis provides the insights needed to optimize your processes.
